Editor's Verdict: Sportsbook.ag is probably best known for being an online bookmaker and is quite possibly your first stop if you fancy a flutter on the SuperBowl or other event, but many people don't realise it also offers an excellent online poker room (for US-based web users). There are some great novelty features that make it stand out from the crowd in terms of entertainment value, but also plenty of big prize tournaments too if you're out to make a profit. Sportsbook Poker is well worth a look whether you are a beginner or experienced poker player. If you already have a Sportsbook account you will be set up and ready to go right away, but even if you don't it only takes a few minutes to sign up. The downloadable client is compatible with both Windows and Mac which definitely wins Sportsbook Poker some points as many sites only offer Windows versions. The client itself isn't quite one of the best we have seen, but still does the job perfectly well and is head and shoulders above most of the competition. It has some nifty features many others don't provide too, such as the ability to show one or both of your hole cards when playing Texas Hold'em. If this sounds a bit too much like breaking from tradition to you though don't worry as only certain tables allow these features; most just allow the usual rules. Sportsbook Poker offers a number of big prize tournaments, but not at quite the dizzying heights that some of the entries higher up our top ten list do. The biggest is the weekly Sunday $50,000 guaranteed prize tournament which attracts some big competitors, but there are plenty of decent prize ones scattered throughout the week too. As well as these there are lots of smaller tournaments going on all the time with buy-ins starting from as low as $0.10. If you are relatively inexperienced at online poker these are a great way of building up some experience before trying for some of the bigger prizes. Sportsbook Poker claims to have one of the best reward schemes on the web – something that many sites seem to claim. However, in Sportsbook Poker's case there may be something to it as there are lots of ways to redeem the VIP points you build up from playing at real money tables or entering real money tournaments. The number of points you build up in a month dictates what VIP status level is assigned to you which in turn dictates how much you can claim in rewards and also the monthly reload bonus you will get when making deposits. The VIP points themselves can be used for straightforward cashback or can be spent in the online reward store on a range of desirable goodies. One last thing to point out is that your VIP status also entitles you to enter one of the monthly freeroll tournaments for your level. Sportsbook Poker is certainly a profitable online poker room. It's very handy if you already use Sportsbook for your online betting, but well worth a look even if you don't! There are a couple of points where it could improve, but for the most part it provides a slick and rewarding poker experience. By all means check out the rest of our top ten too, but we don't think you'll go too far wrong with Sportsbook Poker.
